Miss Georgia Forum 2015

I'm so thrilled to be a part of the Miss America Organization. What a wonderful program this is to inspire young girls and women to be their best selves. From being a contestant to now a member of the Miss Rome board, I have had the privilege to meet and work with several young women. The most recent of which are Katherine McCauley, Miss Rome 2015, and Allison Molnar, Miss Rome's Outstanding Teen 2015!

These two women are incredible role models for their communities and have represented Rome well thus far. In just a few short weeks, they will head off to Columbus, GA to compete for the Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen Competitions. Here are a few pictures from Forum Weekend as we received information regarding this year's pageant.

Disney Princess Half Marathon

Well....I'm going to do some catching up here. Quite a bit has happened in the last couple of months, so be prepared. LOL!

I'll start by telling you of my first half marathon. :)  That's right. I did it. A couple of years ago I wrote a blog about being sick and tired of being sick and tired. I've stumbled and definitely haven't been as faithful in my diet and exercise as I wish I had, but I set a goal and I've accomplished it.

For my first half, I chose the Disney Princess Half with my bestie, Elizabeth. We started training in September and on February 22, 2015, we finished it! Not without quite a few tears and pain, but by gosh we did it.

These are some pics from when I arrived to pick up my packet at the Wide World of Sports. Too bad we got there too early to see the Braves start spring training.

We started the morning at about 2am. Yes, 2am. By 3am we were at Epcot taking some early morning pictures before it became too crowded.

Then we went to the Race Retreat where we got to take pic's with some of the characters from Beauty and the Beast!!

Here we go!!!

We started our portion of the race at about 6:25am. One of the things we agreed to do was to take pictures at each mile marker.

Starting to look a little beat. :)

We missed Mile 12 because by that point I had developed massive blisters on the insides of my feet. I started to feel them around mile 9 but by mile 11 I could no longer run. I ended up walking the last two miles to the finish, but I did finish. I crossed that line with my head held high. :)

Only a tenth of a mile left!!!!

Here are a few random pics from our run! We didn't stop to take pics with any of the characters, except Richard, who is a Disney World staple at the Grand Floridian!!

Here's my final picture. This is my "I'm totally exhausted but super proud" face. It was so worth it and I look forward to my next half marathon!!! (tho it probably won't be for a while)
